Two injured in wall collapse

A woman and her son were injured in a wall collapse near Tiruvattar on Saturday night.

According to police, a wall of the house of Gnanadoss collapsed in the rain, injuring his wife G. Chellammal (45) and son G. Sathish (25) who were sleeping in the house.

Gnanadoss and his daughter G. Anisha escaped unhurt. The injured were rushed to the nearby government hospital.

Boothapandi, Kannimar, Adayamadai and Kulaseram areas experienced moderate rain on Saturday evening.

The catchment areas of Pechiparai and Chitrar dams received a heavy rainfall of 54.8 mm.

Kerosene seized

A team of Flying Squad seized 350 litres of subsidised kerosene near Vallavilai in the early hours of Saturday. Based on tip-off, the squad intercepted an autorickshaw and found 350 litres of kerosene concealed in it. The auto driver escaped under the cover of darkness. The seized kerosene was handed over to the TNCSC depot.
