Two girls killed in accident

Two children were killed in school auto-van collision near Nagercoil on Tuesday evening. The eight other children in the auto who sustained injuries were rushed to Kanyakumari Government Medical College Hospital and their condition is said to be stable.

Auto driver Ramesh of Putheri village also sustained serious injuries in the accident. He was admitted to a private hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.

The auto driver, after collecting the children from S.R.M.V. School in Nagercoil, was proceeding to Putheri to drop them. It was reported that the auto was moving in high speed when it dashed against the van coming in the opposite direction at one end of Putheri Railway Overbridge. The two children succumbed to injuries at the KGMCH were identified as S. Krithika (6) and N. Dhanush (13) of Putheri. Van driver Ramesh Kumar surrendered before the police.
