Two child marriages stopped

Two child marriages that were to take place this month were stopped by the timely intervention of the officials here on Wednesday.

Based on a tipoff, Special Sub-Inspector from Anti Human Trafficking Wing Tamilselvi, Vijaya from Childline 1098, and revenue officials visited the girl’s house in Mohanur. The 16-year-old girl was to be married to a 20-year-old boy on October 26.

In another incident, a 16-year-old girl was to be married to a 20-year-old boy at a temple on October 26.

Officials explained the law to both the parents and asked them not to continue with the marriage preparations.
