The rural police arrested a woman, along with a man, with whom she was having an illicit relationship, on charges of murdering her 33-year-old husband in Vazhapadi here on Saturday.
Body found
On June 18, the body of a man was found under a bridge along the Salem – Ulundurpet National Highway in Vazhapadi.
He was strangulated and the body was thrown in the waterway.
The police recovered the body and sent to Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital for conducting autopsy.
The body was later identified as that of Kasi, a labourer, of Attur.
He is survived by his wife Lakshmi and three daughters. Lakshmi said that Kasi had left for Kerala on June 17. But, police suspected her statement.
However, later she said that Kasi came to know of her relationship with Ravi (35) and altercation broke out between them frequently.
On June 17, when Kasi came home in a drunken state, she pushed him and he fell unconsciously.
She immediately called Ravi and both strangulated Kasi using a rope and threw the body near the bridge.
The police arrested Lakshmi and Ravi and produced them in the court and lodged at prisons.
