Two persons were arrested from the Uzhavar Sandhai area near Tollgate on Thursday on charges of snatching a cellphone.

The police said Srinivasan, 51, of Palavansathukuppam, was making his purchases when Lakshman Thakur, 23, of Satapanga village in Jharkhand State and a 10-year old boy snatched his mobile phone and tried to flee. They were nabbed by the public and thrashed before being handed over to the police. The cellphone was recovered from the boy.

The Bagayam police have registered a case and arrested Lakshman Thakur, who was remanded in custody. The police are trying to trace the parents of the 10-year-old boy, sources added.
