The Pudukottai branch of the Indian Medical Association will create an endowment to honour the former President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam for organising seminars, lectures, quiz and various competitions here during the birth anniversary every year, said M. Periyasamy, president, district branch of IMA.

Speaking at a function to mark the valediction of quiz contest for college students here on Wednesday, he said the contest, organised as part of birth anniversary celebrations of Kalam, evoked good response from students. So, the branch has planned to set up an endowment so that the events could be organised every year. Further, important seminars and lectures would be delivered as part a tribute to Kalam.

S. Syed Mohideen, Joint Director of Health and Rural Services, gave away the prizes to winners.
