Tribals lay siege to police station

October 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - NAGERCOIL:

Tribals living near Pechiparai dam laid siege to the local police station urging the personnel to take action against youths allegedly eve-teasing girls staying in the hostel of Government Residential Higher Secondary School on Friday. It was alleged that a few local youths entered into the hostel and indulged in eve-teasing on Thursday night. The girls complained to their parents and tribals lodged a complaint in the Pechiparai police station.

Dissatisfied with police action, the tribals laid siege to the police station. After Inspector Shankar Kannan pacified the agitators and assured them that night patrolling around the school would be intensified with immediate effect, the tribals dispersed from the place.
