Tribal groups stage protest

Different tribal associations came together and conducted a joint protest here on Thursday opposing the attempt by a Kurumba community association to get ST community certificate in the guise of Kurumans.

Associations representing Malayali tribe, Irula tribe and etc. staged protest in front of the taluk office here demanding the government not to yield to pressure tactics adopted by the Kurumba community association to get ST certificate in the guise of Kurumans.

They also demanded the administration to cancel the ST certificates wrongly given to Kurumba community people, in order to save the interest of real tribes in the ST list, they argued.
