Trial should continue, says IT dept

When the cases came up before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Economic Offences 1, senior public prosecutor for IT cases said as per the Supreme Court mandate, the trial should continue.

The Income Tax department on Thursday reiterated that the Magistrate Court should go ahead with the trial in four income tax cases against former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and her close aide Sasikala.

When the cases came up before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Economic Offences 1, R. Dakshinamoorthy, the senior public prosecutor for IT cases said as per the Supreme Court mandate, the trial should continue.

The Magistrate passed over the matter for orders.
