The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) on Monday launched ‘Project Shakti’, which aims to connect the party’s grassroot-level workers with the high command, as part of Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s efforts to break down the walls of communication between the leadership and its workers.
Senior leaders of the party, including All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Mukul Wasnik, chairperson of its Data Analytics Department Praveen Chakravarty, AICC secretaries Sanjay Dutt and Dr. Sirivella Prasad and TNCC president Su. Thirunavukkarasar launched the initiative at Kamarajar Arangam.
Party co-ordinators
Under Project Shakti, the party plans to empower the grassroot-level workers, get the opinions of the cadre, receive real-time updates on party membership, determine the booths where the party is strong and strengthen it in places where it is weak.
The Congress is planning to appoint 72 co-ordinators to reach out to the cadre in the 72 party districts via Project Shakti.
It will also appoint co-ordinators for revenue blocks, municipalities, corporations and town and village panchayats, said D. Selvam, general secretary of the TNCC.
