Tamil film industry will observe a one-day token fast in Chennai tomorrow as part of extending support to anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare whose indefinite fast at Delhi pressing for a strong Lokpal bill entered the seventh day on Monday.
“We are inviting all members (of Tamil film industry) through the media to take part in this one-day fast (supporting Anna Hazare),” Film Federation of India President L. Suresh told reporters in Chennai.
Directors, producers, actors and technicians would join, Mr. Suresh said, adding that Associations like Tamil Film Producers Council, Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI), South Indian Artists Association would also take part.
When asked whether ongoing shootings would be cancelled in view of the protest, he said, “It is purely voluntary.
Shootings will not be cancelled. Those who are interested and free tomorrow can come and participate,” he said.
The Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangam (traders association) would also observe a one-day strike tomorrow supporting Mr. Hazare and also to protest against the move to allow foreign investments in retail trade.
