She has been the face of the Tamil Nadu BJP in the media for a while. But now, party State general secretary Vanathi Srinivasan seems to be hogging the limelight in the social media as well, if the success of her recent idea is any indication.
A lawyer by profession, Ms. Vanathi has now initiated a live chat show on Facebook to answer queries of the public as well as party workers on a real time basis. The first episode of this show happened on Sunday after weeks of aggressive promotion by her team.
The leader, who is touted as one of the probables to succeed Union Minister Pon. Radhakrishnan as the next State BJP president, says the idea to host the chat show stemmed from an intention to reach out to a larger audience.
“To date, our interaction has been largely with people who are already supporters of the party. To get an objective view of how our party is viewed, I thought we should engage with the larger public as well,” she told The Hindu.
The show, which was promoted with the hashtag #AskVanathi, received close to 70 questions, providing glimpse of popular apprehensions such as the status of minorities in the BJP regime.
