T.N. announces ₹5 lakh aid for ‘Nel’ Jayaraman

In a bid to honour the contributions of ‘Nel’ Jayaraman, who has been making efforts to protect traditional rice varieties through the ‘Save Our Rice’ campaign, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Wednesday announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh for him.

In a statement, Mr. Palaniswami also wished Mr. Jayaraman — who is undergoing treatment for cancer — a speedy recovery.

Mr. Jayaraman is presently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai.
