Three killed in road accidents

Three persons were killed in separate road accidents in the district on Thursday night. Police said S. Nagaraj (29) of Surandai and his colleague Krishnan (48), both working in a beedi manufacturing unit, were returning home in a bike after collecting their salary at Tirunelveli on Thursday night. When they reached Pudur near Seethaparpanallur, a speeding vehicle hit the bike and seriously injured them. Though they were rushed to the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital, they succumbed to their injuries late in the night. Seethaparpanallur police have registered a case. In another accident, a vegetable-laden lorry proceeding from Madurai to Nagercoil hit a sand-laden lorry from behind near Reddiyarpatti on Thursday night in which driver P. Mariappan (25) of Thalavaipuram died on the spot.
