Three persons were killed in a road accident near Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district on Wednesday.
Police said that electrician K. Gnanaprakasam (36), his friends P. Marudaiyan (55), and P. Subramanian (38), all from Adhichapuram Nemmeli village in Kottur block of Tiruvarur district, were riding a motorcycle from Thiruthuraipoondi to Mannargudi .
When they were approaching the Kambanjudi arch, the two-wheeler lost control and the three tripped and fell on the road when a paddy-laden truck ran over them killing the three persons on the spot.
The driver of the truck escaped and Kottur police have registered a case and are investigating.
