Three cricket bookies arrested

The Central Crime Branch sleuths on Friday busted a cricket betting racket and arrested three bookies who were allegedly receiving money from punters for Pakistan and England UBL Cup match played in Dubai.

Based on a tip-off, officials raided a posh apartment near Mount Carmel College and arrested Manish Panjabi (38), Vybhav Parek (35) and Sunil Kumar (38). They recovered Rs. 9.2 lakh in cash, a laptop and mobile phones from them. The CCB officials said the accused were part of an inter-State cricket-betting racket and collected betting amount from their clients on behalf of prime accused Sukhdev from Rajasthan.

According to the police, the accused developed their own software exclusively for cricket betting and would give access to the punters to know the minute-to-minute trends on the betting online.
