The opposition parties, particularly the DMK led by M. K. Stalin, have triggered a law and order problem in the State by staging unannounced protests on the Cauvery issue, BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan alleged here on Sunday. She said the blame for any law and order trouble in the State should be borne by Mr. Stalin.
Interacting on the sidelines of a district party meet at Kaveripattinam, she said that after an all-party meeting convened by the DMK in Chennai, Mr. Stalin had launched unannounced protests and courted arrest. This, she claimed, triggered a law and order problem in the State. Taking cue from him, Karnataka outfits had also announced protests in the neighbouring State. On the other hand, the BJP was trying to find a “long term” “acceptable” solution to the issue, she claimed.
Dismissing allegations that the BJP was pledging away the rights of T.N., she said it was the DMK and the Congress that had been collectively bartering away the State’s rights since the 1970s.
