Tamil Nadu electorate stands at 6.26 crore

The electorate in Tamil Nadu stands at 6.26 crore, including 3.18 crore women, 3.08 men and over 7,200 persons from the third gender, according to the Election Commission of India. The Commission on Wednesday published the final electoral rolls of the Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls, 2021 with reference to January 1, 2021, as the qualifying date.

The electoral rolls are available on the Chief Electoral Officer's website http://elections.tn.gov.in. and electors can check their names by visiting the portal, Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo said.

As per the final rolls, the Shozhinganallur Assembly constituency in Chengalpattu district continues to have the highest number of electors with 6,94,845 electors, while the Harbour Assembly constituency in Chennai continues to be the lowest with 1,76,272 electors. A total of 47 overseas electors have also been enrolled during Special Summary Revision 2021.

“The period of continuous updation is in operation now,” the Commission said.

All eligible persons who have completed 18 years as of January 1, 2021, and who do not find their names in the electoral rolls can apply (a) by visiting the respective offices of the Electoral Registration Officers and submitting Form 6 (b) By applying online through www.nvsp.in. (c) Through the ‘Voter Helpline App’ available on the Google Play Store, the Commission said.

“As per the directions of the Election Commission of India, District Contact Centres have been established in all the districts of Tamil Nadu. The District Contact Centres have been provided with the toll-free helpline number 1950 uniformly across the State. For any election-related queries, the public can call the District Contact Centre. The State Contact Centre is functioning in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer with the toll-free number 180042521950,” an official release stated.

During the Special Summary Revision, over 21.39 lakh entries were included in the rolls and over 5.09 lakh persons’ entries were deleted. A total of 8,97,694 persons in the age group of 18-19 years were included in the rolls during the SSR, with Chennai registering 49,148 such persons, the highest in the State. As of January 15 this year, there are a total of 72,853 service voters across the State.

Cuddalore

The final electoral rolls for all the nine assembly constituencies in Cuddalore district with January 1, 2021 as the qualifying date was released here on Wednesday.

According to the final electoral roll, the total electorate in Cuddalore district is 21,41,935 — 10,55,291 men, 10,86,436 women and 208 third gender.

Releasing the final electoral roll at the Collectorate, District Election Officer and Collector Chandra Sekhar Sakhamuri said that 69,418 forms were received of which 67,660 were accepted. After the release of draft electoral roll on November 16, 2020, 67,660 voters were included in the roll and names of 8,645 voters were deleted owing to double entry and migration.

As per the final roll, the highest number of voters in the district are in Virudhachalam (2,51,703) followed by Chidambaram (2,50,735) and Bhuvanagiri (2,48,257) while Neyveli (2,17,888) had the lowest number of voters.

Villupuram

As per the final electoral roll, women outnumber men among voters in Villupuram district. Of the 16,84,504 voters in the district 8,51,082 are women while men are 8,33,206 and 216 others.

Releasing the final electoral roll for seven assembly constituencies in the district, District Collector A. Annadurai said 46,429 voters were included in the roll and names of 10,286 voters were deleted.

The highest number of voters in the district are in Villupuram (2,60,970) followed by Gingee (2,60,159) and Tirukovilur (2,53,981). The lowest number of voters are in the Mailam segment (2,19,868).

Kallakurichi

As per the final electoral roll, men outnumber women among voters in Kallakurichi district.

Of the 10,80,525 voters from the district, 5,43,472 are men while 5,36,751 are women and 202 belong to the third gender.

Dindigul

District Collector M. Vijayalakshmi has released the final electoral rolls here on Wednesday.

The district has six Assembly Constituencies namely Palani, Oddanchatram, Arthur, Nilakottai, Natham, Dindigul and Vedasandur.

The Collector said that the district had 18,73,438 voters including 9,60,280 women, 9,12,943 men and 215 others.

The number of women voters were more than the men voters. The final rolls will be available at all the 1,209 designated centres and at the offices of the Revenue offices in the district.

The Collector released the rolls in the presence of revenue, election department officials and representatives from the recognized political parties from the district.
