Campaigning for by-poll ends

June 26, 2015 02:53 am | Updated November 16, 2021 04:58 pm IST - CHENNAI:

AIADMK cadres, including high-profile Ministers, who invaded the streets of R.K. Nagar constituency over the last few weeks to canvass for Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the by-poll on June 27, and their Communist counterparts wrapped up their campaign on Thursday evening.

While the AIADMK bigwigs and cadres beat a retreat after several weeks of intense campaigning, which involved extensive door-to-door visits, the members of Communist Party of India and other Left parties staged a final low-key road rally and a street play as the clock wound down to deadline placed by the Election Commission.

Dr. Jayavardhan, South Chennai MP, has been working out of his make-shift office in the constituency. “We have campaigned on the basis of successes and achievements of the present government headed by Amma,” he said.
