Members of Southern Railway’s Bharat Scouts and Guides from Madurai along with railway workers and officials took out a rally campaigning for Swachch Rail Swachch Bharat at Dindigul railway station on Wednesday.

Holding placards in their hands, the participants walked around the railway station and on platforms, appealing to passengers to keep the station clean and throw wastes in the bins.

Later, railway workers removed weeds near the track and picked wastes from platforms and on the tracks.

A team of railway officials from Madurai, led by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager S.T. Ramalingam, organised the rally and the campaign.

It was part of the Passenger and Customer Facilitation Fortnight being observed by Madurai Division.

“We have arranged a series of programmes at various railway stations in southern districts to create awareness of safety at level crossings,” Mr. Ramalingam added.

The Scouts members came in Madurai-Dindigul passenger train and assembled at Dindigul station for campaign in the morning.

A team of Railway Protection Force personnel, led by Inspector S. Duraisamy, joined the campaign.
