Surveillance cameras to be set up for ‘Guru Peyarchi’

Surveillance cameras will be set up at strategic locations at Sri Vasihsteswarar temple at Thittai village near here, popularly known as ‘Gurusthalam’ on the occasion of ‘Guru Peyarchi’ festival which falls on July 5.

A decision to this effect was taken at a consultative meeting convened by the district administration in co-ordination with the officials of various departments for making arrangements for the festival.

Presiding over the meeting, N. Subbaiyan, District Collector, said that uninterrupted power supply would be ensured by the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation all through the festival.

As a large congregation of devotees was anticipated for the festival, the Thittai village panchayat union would make special arrangements for supplying drinking water and for setting up temporary toilets.

Ambulance

The Collector said an emergency ambulance with state-of-the-art facilities would be stationed in the vicinity of the temple. The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation would operate special buses from the Old Bus stand in Thanjavur and Kumbakonam. The Collector directed the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment authorities to set up metallic roofs at strategic locations in the temple where a congregation of devotees was expected.

P. Chandrasekaran, District Revenue Officer, Kumaradurai, Joint Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, and Kumar, Corporation Commissioner were present.
