A 28-year-old engineering postgraduate sustained grievous burn injuries in her suicide attempt at her residence in Pallam Nadutheru near Suchindram on Sunday night.
Police sources said that A. Sakila (28) allegedly committed self-immolation after a family dispute with her husband Anthonydasan (32), a fishermen.
On hearing her screaming, neighbours rushed to the house and she was taken to a private hospital in Nagercoil.
Boothapandi magistrate recorded the statement from the woman at the hospital. Suchindram police registered a case and arrested Anthonydasan. Further investigations were on, police said.
