The Tamil Nadu government has dismissed a Sub-Registrar on the charge of registering the sale of a property that was attached under the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Act, 1997.
In an order issued after a detailed inquiry, the Inspector-General of Registration said T. Muralikrishna, while serving as the Sub-Registrar of Rasipuram in the Namakkal registration district, allowed the registration of a document involving a property that was attached under the Act. The charge was that the accused officer, despite knowing that the property was attached through a government order, registered it, in dereliction of duty.
The Sub-Registrar contended that there was no court order confirming the attachment. As on the date of registration (22/09/2014), there was no order in force restraining the transaction.
However, the explanation was not accepted by the appointing authority. The Sub-Registrar was dismissed from service under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules.
