Students protest seeking amenities

October 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - CUDDALORE:

Around 500 students of Government Arts College in Chidambaram on Wednesday staged a protest seeking basic amenities. They claimed that the college had an “acute shortage of teachers.”

The authorities, they alleged, failed to provide facilities such as drinking water and toilets and also did not fill the posts of teachers. The administration did not take any step to improve the facilities though the issue was brought to their notice several times, the protesters said.

Police and the college authorities held talks with the students and promised to look into their grievances following which they withdrew the protest.
