Students display scientific skills

The display of scientific models developed by students was the highlight of the valediction of the fortnight long Young Student Scientist Programme (YSSP) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology at the Kandaswami Kandar’s College, Velur, near here, on Sunday.

The scientific models depicted the achievements registered in Science and Technology, and other related fields by the country and focused on research and outreach activities.

The event provided a good platform to the young student to exhibit their skill, talents and creativity.

Appreciation

Electronic stethoscope; automatic street light on / off controller; vibration indicator alarms; black colour sensor; mobile phone sniffer; generation of electricity from seawater; automatic street lighting system; over heat controller; automatic street lamp; coin mobile charger; clap switch; automatic irrigation system; automatic no parking alarms; switchless calling bell; gained laurels and appreciation from the academics and the officials of the Council alike.

G. Arunachalam, Professor and Head, Department of Animal Science, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchi, declared the exhibition open. He explained the modern trends in science. He said that the programmes of this kind will encourage students in the field of Science.

K. Sekar, Member in Collegiate Education (Joint Director), Teachers Recruitment Board, Chennai, delivered the valedictory address, and distributed certificates to the participants and prizes to the winners.

He urged the students to develop a scientific tempo, innovate, explore and lead the country.

R. Arul, principal, Kandaswami Kandar’s College, and N. Kanagaraj, coordinator of the YSSP, offered felicitations.
