Strong gale that has been intermittently witnessed in Kodaikanal for the last few days uprooted few trees in the hill town on Sunday.

A huge tree that was uprooted near the lake fell on the road.

However, it did not fall on anyone.

The road is a popular route for tourists to go around during their cycling and horse riding activities.

Kodaikanal Tahsildar, Tirumalai Bashyam, said that two more trees fell near the Bryant Park and the trees were removed immediately.

He said the district administration had issued notices to private land owners to fell few old and huge trees that were posing a threat of getting uprooted during strong winds. “The land owners did not act immediately so that the trees have fallen,” he said. A few trees that fell near Byrant park a couple of days back damaged few shops and motorbikes parked near them.
