Students of nursing and the public formed a human chain at VOC Grounds in Palayamkottai on Saturday to create awareness among the public on the need for leading a stress-free life.

Participating in the human chain, psychiatrist C. Panneer Selvan said the psychiatric problems, caused by chemical changes in the brain, should be addressed through appropriate line of treatment as was done for curing disorders like diabetes or blood pressure.

Medication must

“It’s not caused by black magic or by similar means and hence it can be cured completely if the patient takes proper medication prescribed by a qualified psychiatrist,” Dr. Panneer Selvan noted.

Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, Tirunelveli, D.A. Prabakar, counsellors, students of nursing and the public participated in the awareness human chain formed on World Mental Health Day.
