The foundation stone for a 4-MW solar power project to be set up under the auspices of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited was laid at the Cauvery Basin Marketing Terminal of Narimanam Terminal at Muttam near here on Wednesday.
The clean energy unit being set up at an estimate of Rs. 31 crore would generate 20,000 units every day which would be fed into the Tamil Nadu State grid, according to Rakesh Kumar, General Manager (Alternate Energy) IOCL. The project would be completed by December this year.
S. Palanisamy, District Collector, said the project would come up on 20 acres.
