Tamil Nadu is lagging behind in all fields, especially in agriculture and industrial development. Several schemes have not been executed owing to “inefficient rule” by the Dravidian parties for the past 50 years, according to Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Pon. Radhakrishnan.
Addressing a party workers meeting and welfare aid distribution function here on Saturday, he said that people in the State were not prepared to accept the DMK. They expected a change. The BJP should become alternative to the AIADMK. Then, the people would accept us, he added.
New water sources were not developed and the existing water sources not rehabilitated. Agriculturists had been depending on sources developed 50 years ago. Similarly, industrial activities were sluggish. Only BJP could introduce and execute dream projects, he pointed out.
The Centre had been taking massive efforts to improve infrastructure in the State. Steps would be taken to allocate more funds for Bodi-Madurai broad gauge project.
A meeting between representatives in Theni and Railway Minister would be arranged.
Efforts were also on to operate ships between Colombo and Tuticorin, he said.
