Minister for Municipal Administration S. P. Velumani on Saturday said DMK president M. K. Stalin was daydreaming about the possibility of Assembly elections being held along with the Lok Sabha polls in 2019.

Addressing mediapersons after a party meeting at the Ottapidaram constituency, he said that the AIADMK was gearing up for the by-elections to Vilathikulam and Ottapidaram, and would win the constituencies with a margin of 50,000 votes.

“He (Mr. Stalin) had been saying that the government would fall in 10 days, one month or three months. But the Chief Minister has consolidated his position,” he said.

Mr. Velumani said the AIADMK would ally with parties with a similar ideology for the upcoming by-elections.

The ruling party would contest the polls by highlighting the welfare schemes of former Chief Minister M. Jayalalithaa, which were being continued by the present regime, he said.

Deputy Speaker Pollachi V. Jayaraman, Information and Publicity Minister Kadambur C. Raju, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Minister V. M. Rajalakshmi, AIADMK district secretary S. T. Chellapandian and other party functionaries were present on the occasion.
