Sports competitions — track and group events _ would be held for the differently-abled and visually impaired persons at Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School on January 24.
There would be a separate event for the mentally challenged and hearing impaired. The events include 50 m, 100 m and 200 m dash, wheel-chair race, shot-put, volleyball, shuttlecock, table tennis and kabadi.
A statement from the Collectorate states that the event would be held under the aegis of the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority. The winners would automatically qualifyfor the State events to be held at a later date.
There is no age bar for the participants. However, they should possess certificates from recognised medical practitioners or the Differently-abled Welfare Officer.
