Spicejet refused refuel, Madurai-Hyderabad flight delayed

The departure of the Madurai-Hyderabad Spicejet flight was delayed for four hours on Saturday evening after a private petroleum company refused to refuel the plane for want of payment.

Airport officials here confirmed the reason for the delay. However, they were not ready to comment on the deal between the Kalanithi Maran-promoted Spicejet and the oil company.

The 78-seater Q-400 class flight that landed from Colombo was scheduled to take off for Hyderabad at 4.35 p.m.

Since the trouble began much before the passengers could board the aircraft, the airline employees accommodated them at the airport. They also gave the passengers refreshments twice.

The company agreed to refuel the flight after marathon talks between the officials of both sides, according to sources. The flight with 52 passengers finally took off at 8.40 p.m., sources said.
