Special camp in village to check fever

Following the death of two children due to fever in Muthunaickenpatti village in Omalur, a fever surveillance team has camped in the village and the people were screened on Monday.

S. Ajith Kumar (14) of the village was admitted to the Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital recently, but died of brain fever.

Also, Murugan (13) of the same village died of fever recently. Hence a team of health officials carried out door-to-door surveillance on Monday.

Blood samples were taken from villagers and mosquito repellents were sprayed in the village.

Deputy Director of Health Service D. Jegadeesh Kumar said that samples were taken and sent to Institute of Vector Control and Zoonoses at Hosur and results were awaited.
