Southern Railway is making arrangements to send drinking water to Kerala.

A train of wagons fitted with synthetic tanks to Erode from the Tondiarpet railway maintenance unit here on Saturday.

R.K. Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway, said they had sent 10 flat wagons fitted with four synthetic water tanks in each wagon to Erode from where arrangements have been made for transporting the drinking water to Kerala on Sunday. It had already despatched one special train carrying water in seven wagons from Erode to Thiruvananthapuram.

Mr. Kulshrestha said already a 14-tank wagon filled with potable water from Pune and a 15-tank wagon from Ratlam had left for Kayamkulam on Saturday.

SRWHO contribution

The Southern Railway Women’s Headquarters Organisation (SRWHO) has donated ₹25,000 towards. The Hindu Relief Fund’ on Sunday.

The fund was set up to aid flood-affected people of Kerala.

Mansi Kulshrestha, president of SRWHO, presented the cheque in the presence of secretary Ashu Mehta and joint secretary Shobha Rajasekhar were present.
