Solatium given to families of deceased persons

Vellore Collector R. Nanthagopal handed over a cheque for Rs. 3 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund towards solatium to the family of a person who died in an electrical accident in Kethandapatti recently.

The money was distributed during the weekly public grievances redressal day meeting at the Collectorate here on Monday.

The Collector also distributed cheques for Rs. 1,05,754 and Rs.36,158 to the families of two persons who had died in service in Saudi Arabia.

He gave away a sum of for Rs.5,29,690, as cheque, to the family of an accused who died during police enquiry in the Baradarami Police Station.

Petitions

The Collector received 433 petitions from the public on the occasion.

They were all related to land pattas, patta transfers, free house site pattas, employment, loans, financial assistance, assistance to the differently-abled, old age pension, police protection and power connection.

He handed over the petitions to concerned officials and directed them to take immediate action on them.

K. Manivannan, District Revenue Officer, M. Manohar Singh, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency, Madhivanan, Special Deputy Collector (Social Security Scheme), Kandasamy, District Supply Officer and Bhageetha, District Social Welfare Office participated in the meeting.
