With the verdict of the Karnataka High Court acquitting the former Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, and three others in the disproportionate wealth case cheering up the rank and file of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the party supremo literally has come to have a ubiquitous influence over the city. All these huge cut-outs and banners erected across the city portray the AIADMK leader in a joyful mood such as the one on the Collector Office Road where she is seen clapping her hands. These cut-outs also bear a long list of names of the party cadre.
A cardiac camp organised exclusively for doctors and their family members by the Pudukottai branch of Indian Medical Association and the Tiruchi-based Kauvery Heart City evoked good response from the physicians. In all, 55 persons, including 18 doctors in Pudukottai, were screened. “Most doctors do not pay adequate attention to their health, particularly hypertension and cardiac ailments, and the camp was aimed at creating awareness,” said S. Saravanan, honorary secretary of the IMA, Pudukottai. The camp also marked the observance of World Hypertension Day which fell on Sunday.
