Six killed in two road accidents

Six persons were killed and nine others injured in two different road accidents at Ulundurpet and Thiruvennainallur near here on Tuesday.

R.Maduraiveeran (42) and S. Poomalai (28) of Pu. Mambakkam and K.Balu (42) of Nagar Mannarkudi, riding on a motorcycle, were fatally knocked down by a jeep near the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation godown at Ulundurpet.

The police sources said that they were trying to avoid a heap of blue metals dumped on the roadside. All the three died on the spot.

In another incident, three of the 12 persons travelling in a vehicle were killed when it rammed a stationary lorry at Mettukuppam near Thiruvennainallur. Chinnaraj, Kuselan and Venkatammal, all hailing from Bargur in Krishnagiri district, died on the spot.
