Work on the setting up of an industrial estate by Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) is nearing completion and the plots will be allotted to aspiring entrepreneurs in course of time.
Connectivity by road and rail routes, location in the cement industrial belt and facility for expeditious marketing are some of the salient features of the industrial estate being set up in Ariyalur district, said P. Veerabadran, Branch Manager, SIDCO.
The estate has been developed on an area of 25 acres at Mallur on the outskirts of Ariyalur and SIDCO has developed the area at an estimate of Rs. 3 crore with basic amenities such as drainage, roads, stormwater drainage and street lights.
“As many as 31 plots will be allotted to entrepreneurs on lease for 30 years,” Mr. Veerabadran told The Hindu here on Monday.
On the potential of the estate, he said its location in the vicinity of cement industries would benefit entrepreneurs in a big way.
Priority would be accorded to those coming forward to take up maintenance of the machinery in cement industries. The allotment rate for the plots would be fixed in course of time, he added.
