SRIVILLIPUTTUR
A Sub-Inspector of Police (Technical Service) from Theni district, B. Gopikannan (35), was killed when his car hit a roadside tree on Sriviliputtur-Sivakasi highway near Thailakulam under Malli police station limits on Monday.
The police said that the SI had gone to his native place, Mallipudur, to attend the wedding of his younger brother. On Monday morning, he started driving his car towards Theni to join duty.
At around 7.15 a.m., he lost control of the car, which dashed against a roadside tree. Gopikannan sustained injuries, and was rushed to the Government Hospital here, where he died later.
Malli police are investigating.
