The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Sunday effected yet another shuffle in district-level party positions. In a press release, party general secretary and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said R.N.Kittusamy, Modakurichi MLA, has been appointed Erode (Urban) district secretary. Hitherto, Revenue Minister and Erode Rural district secretary Thopu N.D. Venkatachalam held the position as an additional responsibility.
The 56-year-old Kittusamy was the chairman of Erode Central Co-operative Bank during 1994-96 and has been secretary of the Erode district unit of the party labour wing since 2006. Mr.Kittusamy defeated Congress candidate R.M.Palanisamy by a margin of around 40,000 votes in Assembly polls during 2011.
M.A.Muniasamy, councillor in Paramakudi was posted the Ramanathapuram district unit secretary. Till now, MGR youth wing secretary and Sports and Youth Welfare Minister R.B. Udhaya Kumar was in charge of the district in addition to his party assignment. On December 6, G. Muniasamy was removed.
