‘Shift Tasmac outlet’

October 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - SALEM:

The members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India staged a demonstration in front of a Tasmac outlet on Gandhi Road in Hasthampatti in the city on Thursday demanding its shifting to some other area.

They alleged that the shop was situated very near a school, hospitals and in a very busy locality.

Its presence was proving a hindrance for the free flow of traffic and urged the district administration to relocate it. On receiving information, revenue officials rushed to the spot and pacified the DYFI members. They assured the protestors that the shop would be shifted within 60 days, following which the members disbursed peacefully. N. Praveen Kumar, district secretary of the DYFI, led the agitation, in which Venkatesh, city secretary, Kavery, city president of AIDWA, and others participated in the demonstration.
