Shift Tasmac outlet from near railway station : PMK

June 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - SALEM:

Stating that the presence of Tasmac outlet (No 7101) in front of the Town Railway Station is affecting the common public and the passengers, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) demanded that the shop be moved from its present location.

PMKs urban district secretary Kadir Rajarathinam told reporters that most of people in the area board the Salem — Virudhachalam Passenger trains and the Salem — Egmore express during night hours. Customers who come to the outlet park their vehicles on both sides of the road leading to traffic congestion. Pedestrians and commuters were forced to face the nuisance activities of the customers, he added.

He said that after purchasing liquor bottles from the shop, they consume it by sitting in the parking areas. If someone questions them, they abuse them, he added.

He said that women, children and the common public avoid using the road during evening hours as they feel it unsafe. Many murders took place in the Tasmac outlet, he added.

He demanded that the shop be removed from its present location. If the shop is not removed, a major protest would be organised, he added.

He submitted a petition to District Collector K. Maharabushanam, and to Tasmac officials.
