A seven-year-old girl, who was allegedly subjected to sexual abuse on Wednesday at Nallur in Vriddhachalam taluk, has been admitted to the Cuddalore Government Headquarters Hospital here for treatment.

Police have arrested 49-year-old S. Selvarasu in this connection, Superintendent of Police Ashwin Kotnis said. The victim's father Venkatesan (38), a daily wage labourer and native of Athanur in Uludurpet taluk, said that his daughter looked dazed and deeply traumatised.

Mr. Venkatesan, along which his daughter, had gone to his in-laws' place at Nallur to participate in a local festival. When his daughter was playing with the girls in the neighbourhood, Selvarasu accosted her and offered some small coins. He also promised to give more money if she accompanied him to his house. However, after a while the girl came home crying complaining of physical injuries and pain. Mr. Venkatesan lodged a complaint with the Vepur police and admitted his daughter to the Vriddhachalam Government Hospital.

She was later referred to the Cuddalore hospital. Hospital sources said laboratory reports are awaited.
