Residents of BGR Line Cross Road in Ward 47 in Guhai are a worried lot as sewage water flows on to the road.

Residents said that about 50 families are living in the area for the last 60 years. But the absence of drain has worsened the situation. People are avoiding the streets, said a resident.

We have informed the Councillor many times. But the matter remain unattended, he added.

Residents said that when it rain sewage mixes with rain water and stagnates on the road for a long time. Mayor S. Soundappan along with officials inspected the ward two months ago. He promised immediate action. But nothing has been done so far. Residents said that, the corporation instead of taking steps to prevent outbreak of waterborne diseases, should concentrate on cleaning the drains, and construct new ones.
