Security guard found murdered at saw mill

A 60-year-old security guard was found murdered and Rs. 60,000 in cash kept in the almirah of a saw mill was stolen on Monday.

Subramani of Pachudayampatti village was working as security person at the saw mill on Namakkal-Salem Road for many years. He was on duty on Sunday night.

He along with other security personnel in the area used to visit a tea stall nearby after their duty hours in the morning.

On Monday, other security personnel noticed his absence at the tea stall and visited the saw mill and found him dead with his throat slit.

The owner of the mill and the police were informed.

Cash missing

The police found the cash kept in the almirah missing.

They suspect that burglars could have murdered him and decamped with the cash.

The body was taken to the District Government Headquarters Hospital and was handed over to his relatives after post-mortem examination.

The Namakkal police registered a case.
