MADURAI

Stating that the recent Supreme Court verdict was clear on sharing of the Cauvery water, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami said there was no need for convening an all-party meeting on the issue as demanded by some Opposition parties.

Speaking to the media at Madurai airport on Sunday, he said the Opposition parties had different objectives and were unnecessarily raising doubts over the judgement without reading it thoroughly.

He said the SC judgement was clear that the Cauvery Management Authority to be set up the Centre was as per the final verdict of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal barring the minor reduction in water share to Tamil Nadu. It has also asked the Union government to immediately implement the scheme, he said.

Terming the verdict historical, the Chief Minister said it was the efforts of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and the present government moving in her footsteps that led to the delivery of the verdict.
