Sarathkumar seeks unity among artistes

June 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - TUTICORIN:

R. Sarathkumar, founder president of Ahila Indhiya Samaththuva Makkal Katchi and Tenkasi MLA has sought unity among actors of South Indian Artistes’ Association.

He told media persons here on Saturday that it was saddening that small issues pertaining to the association had been publicised through media.

He said that a new building would be constructed for the association only after the court verdict.

It was only with all artistes’ consent at the executive council and general body meetings that the old building was demolished to make way for the proposed new building.

But it was unfortunate that after eight months of an unanimous decision, some artistes had moved the court against construction of the new building.

It would be a good source of income and through which a corpus for the association could be created.

Mr. Sarathkumar said that he would launch his by-poll campaign on June 23 to garner votes for Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa who was contesting the RK Nagar Assembly constituency.

‘Good governance’

He was confident of a massive win for Ms. Jayalalithaa “since the ruling AIADMK offers good governance.”

To a query on opposition parties alleging the ruling party of violating model code of conduct, he said it was not true since no other party except the Communist Party of India had fielded its candidate against Ms. Jayalalithaa.

Ernavur A. Narayanan, Namguneri MLA; N. Sundar, district secretary of AISMK; M.S. Wilson, district youth wing secretary; and others were present.
