Sarang, the helicopter aerobatic display team of the Indian Air Force, is set to present an air show in Thanjavur on June 27.
The event would be hosted by the Air Force Station, Thanjavur, as part of its silver jubilee celebration.
The Sarang Helicopter Display team is one of the two helicopter display teams in the world, the other being “Blue Eagles” of the British Army. The leitmotif, “Sarang,” is derived from the Sanskrit for peacock. The helicopters have been painted in bright colours with the peacock form superimposed on them. The show would include a performance by the IAF skydiving team, “Akash Ganga”, which would enthral viewers with high altitude dare devilry.
The team consists of some of the finest parachutists of the IAF, whose exploits include skydiving over the North and South Poles.
Practice shows would be conducted on June 23, 24, and 25, according to a press release from Air Force Station, Thanjavur.
