Condemning the erratic supply of drinking water, a section of the residents of Anna Nagar staged a road roko in their area on Wednesday.

As an unprecedented breach in the third drinking water project pipeline has seriously affected the pumping of drinking water from Vallanaadu to Tuticorin, drinking water supply to the residents in various parts of the Corporation remains affected.

Consequently, the people have been forced to buy water from private suppliers drawing water from their wells.

When the situation worsened on Wednesday, a section of Anna Nagar residents blocked traffic on the busy road in their area demanding immediate supply of drinking water.

However, they were pacified by Ravi Nathan, Commissioner (in-charge), who assured them that the problem would be solved within the next 24 hours.
