With the water level at the Mettur dam touching the 120-ft mark on Saturday for the second time in 20 days, the Cauvery is in spate. This has led to flooding in Erode district and  flood  alerts in districts downstream of the river.

Meanwhile, flood warnings have been issued in Salem, Namakkal and other districts downstream of the river.

In Karnataka, flood alert has been sounded in Mandya district, after the discharge from the upstream Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) reservoir.
